[One day in Unova, the sky opened up.

And dropped out a muppet of a man in tattered conductor's clothing. He hits the ground amid a crowd and instantly a lot is going on. Some people rushing to help him up, to check for injuries. Some calling the police. Some recording the rip in the sky.

And others recording the man, tweeting out that amazing thing that had just occurred.

[And Ingo, despite people trying to stop him? has been making his way to the nearest subway entrance. He's not very steady on his feet, the fall absolutely busted him up

But who cares about that.

There's someone he needs to see. In spite of pain. In spite of the time that has past. In spite of everything.

He knows that if he gets to the subway. If he gets to Gear Station.

If he just gets to Gear Station....

Then everything will be okay. And until he sees that person he really doesn't care about the people following him and crowding him. The constant flash of pictures. Someone sticks a microphone in his face, asking something??

But he keeps pushing through]

[ The crowd inside Gear Station seems — busier? than usual. Emmet can't tell exactly, only that he feels a bit more claustrophobic than usual. Which is strange, really, since he spends most of his time these days in a small train car fighting with large monsters, but that never felt overwhelming.

This, though — this does. He can see people looking in his direction, leaning over to whisper to one another, cell phones lifting up to snap candids of him. It's different. This isn't about him, the Subway Boss. This is about him.

Emmet swallows hard, pushing past them to head to the surface. The location of all the tweets he'd been tagged in wasn't far. If he just—

Stops.

And stares at the crowd, at the masses surrounding something — someone? — like some sort of analogy that he can't even fathom at this moment because his brother is there.

He thinks, anyway. ]

Ingo—?!

EMMET

[And he's shoving people aside, running with a limp towards him, tears already streaming

The cameras and phones and crowds and pain and confusion all easy to block out in this moment]

[ He wants to cry so badly, but the flashes from cameras and the murmurs from the crowd keep jarring him back into reality, adrenaline kicking in. Emmet muscles through the crowd to meet Ingo halfway, pulling him in for a hug. ]

I am Emmet. I am here. I am . . .

[ His grip tightens a bit, hand shaking. ]

[Hugging on tight, so tight, shaking in his arms, overwhelmed with finally after all this time being able to hold his brother again. To be where he belongs again. Burying his face in Emmet's shoulder, murmuring something. It's very quiet for how Ingo usually speaks and its impossible to hear over the hubbub of onlookers. But he is saying something and he is holding on and he really is Ingo

And its really Emmet in his arms. Not a dream or illusion. He made it back. He recovered his memories and really made it back. And sure it was a dangerous trip and certainly he was overwhelmed but

But it was Emmet in his arms and nothing can take that away from Ingo. Ingo won't let that happen again]

[ Where had he been? Emmet has so many questions — too many, frankly, and none that he wanted to ask while they were being swarmed.

He draws his arms up protectively, holding Ingo close as he raises his voice, trying to be heard over the din of the crowd. ]

I am Emmet! Check safety, everyone! Please allow my brother and I to come through. I must take him to seek medical attention!

[the ONE PERSON who wasn't there to be a rubbernecker is grabbing one of the wheelchairs the station has available and wheeling it over, yelling at people to get the FUCK out the way. they have no idea who these men are they only watch anime when they arent working ok. this isnt yuusuke urameshi so whatever

and this poor woman is trying to pry Ingo off Emmet, explaining there's an ambulance already waiting--she called it after she saw Ingo hit the ground

Ingo for his part is. trying so hard to keep hold of his brother but eventually relents to be seated and

man everyone is in their WAY. wiping at his face and taking a deeeeep breath]

GEAR STATION AT THIS TIME REQUESTS NON EMPLOYEES EXIT THE ENTRANCE AREA IN ORDER TO PREVENT A FIRE HAZARD. WE REMIND YOU THAT LOITERING IS NOT PERMITTED NEAR THE ENTRANCE.

[ God, how he missed that obnoxiously loud voice of his brother's. It takes all of Emmet's willpower to not burst into tears on the spot, instead smiling widely as he stays extremely close to him. ]

Follow the rules. Safe driving! Follow the schedule. Everybody smile! Please exercise proper safety checks as we do the same!

[ And then, to the woman: ]

I am his brother. I will be staying right by his side.

[she nods, chill with that. then motions for him to follow her--he can push the wheelchair. true to her word, there's an ambulance parked right outside

In the chair, Ingo is turning to look back up at Emmet as if afraid to lose sight of him, eyes already tearing up again]

[ Emmet keeps smiling as he pushes the wheelchair towards the ambulance, steadfastly ignoring any gawkers or reporters that try to muscle their way towards him. They just have to get to the ambulance, get in there, and then he can— he doesn't even know. Fall to pieces, probably. ]

doors close and

lets out a shaky breath and reaches for his brother]

[ Emmet grabs onto him tightly and lets out a choked sob as he buries his head against his shoulder. ]

[rubbing Emmet's back, holding him close. It's so nice to just. Be close. It's been so long.]

I am so sorry, Emmet. I did not want to be gone from your side. I never wished for that.

I'm back. I'm here. I'm okay.

[ It's rushed, his breathing erratic, like he doesn't even know what to do. ]

So you can rest now. We're going to take some time. Together. You have so much to tell me, I'm sure. And I'm sure you have questions for me.

[ It's less an angry accusation and more a broken outburst. ]

I. I was in the past? There were no televisions or internet or...or anything, really. It was always very quiet and very dark. I hit my head perhaps, because for a long time I had difficulty remembering anything.

I took care of pokemon there like this one.

I hope this little one can help me prove the truth of my story.

[ It should sound unbelievable. But Emmet's never seen a sneasel like this before, and he's seen so many different strange pokemon on the subway. And there's no way Ingo wouldn't have tried to contact him unless he just hadn't been able to.

He has so, so many questions, but all of them can wait for later. ]
